Many people have a false belief that Six Sigma, since it is related to quality, is only for managers. In fact, it is as much for team members as it is for managers. There are different roles defined for member associated with Six Sigma. Six Sigma Developers, Six Sigma Mentors and Six Sigma Champions are several roles associated with this quality centric methodology. the details of each roles will be defined later.
Team members contribute to the quality of any product or service much more than the managers do. They are involved with developing the quality oriented product as compared to the managers who supervise the entire development process. Hence, I strongly feel that Six Sigma belongs more to product developers rather than managers.

I've often heard this argument as well. If only managers learn the methods and those managers are poor at giving instruction, have non-existent people skills, or simply have no time, how are the skills going to be deployed?
It's tremendously important for everyone involved to understand at least the basics, top down.
Six sigma training for corporations is available, as is individual six sigma certification online. I'd suggest looking into it.
